UL2703
UL 2703 serves as the benchmark for assessing the performance of solar mounting systems, ensuring that dual racks maintain durable electrical and mechanical connections over an extended period in challenging outdoor conditions.
Approval for racking manufacturers comes in three levels, with "Listed" being the highest:
Listed: The dual rack system undergoes comprehensive testing and evaluation, meeting all the requirements of the standard.
Classified: The system is tested and evaluated for only a portion of the standard.
Recognized: A component undergoes testing and evaluation for only a portion of the standard.
Dual rack systems have successfully undergone electrical, mechanical, and fire testing to secure their UL 2703 listing.

Fire Safety in Rooftop PV Systems: IBC 2012 Compliance
According to the 2012 International Building Code (IBC), there is a stipulation that a roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) system must possess the same fire classification as the roofing material on which the system is installed. Specifically, as outlined in IBC 2012: Section 1509.7.2 on Fire Classification, rooftop-mounted PV systems are required to match the fire classification designated for the roof assembly, as mandated by Section 1505.
The code encompasses the entire system, comprising the roof covering material, the PV mounting system, and the PV modules. All three components undergo testing collectively to determine the system's fire rating. The term "Fire Classification" refers to a rating system for roof covering materials, classifying them based on their ability to withstand exposure to fire. This classification system includes: Class A: Effective against severe fire exposure Class B: Effective against moderate fire exposure Class C: Effective against light fire exposure

Do solar modules have a Fire Class rating? What is a "module type"?
The new UL1703 standard with the updated fire test introduces the concept of a PV module Type that is based on 4 construction parameters and 2 fire performance parameters. The purpose of this classification is to certify a mounting system without having to test it with every module.

What roofing materials are covered?
Dual Rack is currently Class A certified for Flush Mount applications parallel to roof with Type 1 and 2 modules.
